Silas Molino, Public Health Project Coordinator with the Department of Public Health (DPH)

Silas Molino is a stellar employee who approaches each day with integrity, focus and commitment to the Department of Public Health’s (DPH) mission and vision. He has not wavered in facing challenges and leading by example throughout the pandemic response, including serving as a Contact Tracer Supervisor, Alternate Department Operations Center Director, Operations Section Chief, Medical Point of Dispensing Manager, Vaccine Allocation Coordinator, Employee Testing Manager and several other COVID-19 support roles. 

Silas and his staff created a database and form to automate rate of return data reporting to improve the efficiency of daily vaccine allocations. During this time, Silas continued to coordinate DPH’s leadership training and he redesigned and improved the internship and volunteer program’s website and processes.

Silas genuinely cares about his co-workers, staff and managers, taking time to show interest, address concerns and to encourage and help others however and whenever possible.

 

 

Fred Ang, Supervising Social Worker with the Department of Aging and Adult Services (DAAS)

Fred Ang began his career with San Bernardino County in 2012 and currently is the In Home Supportive Services Program (IHSS) Supervising Social Worker with the Department of Aging and Adult Services (DAAS). Fred supervises a unit of IHSS carrier social workers. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Cognitive Science from UCSD and enjoys using lifelong-learning and life-hacks to optimize everything alongside his wife and two children.

Fred is a team player; possesses an exemplary work ethic and consistently volunteers for projects that go above and beyond his primary duties as an IHSS supervisor. He currently serves DAAS in the following capacities as a Ham Radio operator, CERT member, DAAS Mentor, District Safety Coordinator, System Administrator with the new BOUNDS project. He has helped previously with the DAAS Diversity and Social Committees.

Fred is keen at understanding the department’s needs and has rapidly adjusted to changes during the COVID-19 pandemic. He is often one of the first to answer the call to volunteer, most recently being at the Fontana Speedway and senior vaccination clinics, while encouraging others to volunteer. He also played a key role with other special projects in his district office such as the Great Meals Delivered Program and coordination of office safety trainings to keep everyone safe.

Fred replicates great ideas and works to bring them to scale, always willing to help all levels of staff including social workers, clerical and supervisors with IHSS program related questions or technical assistance which he views as critical in collectively achieving the department’s mission and Countywide Vision.

Tricina Edwards, Nurse Manager with the Department of Behavioral Health (DBH)

Tricina Edwards has made a significant impact on the increased focus of empathy and caring of all individuals that enter the spaces of the Department of Behavioral Health (DBH). Tricina’s extensive leadership with the DBH Department Diversity Committee (DDC), where she serves as the chair, has fostered an intense movement to address the unique and multifaceted needs of our diverse staff at DBH. Tricina’s recent efforts include sitting on the Planning Team for implementing the African American Listening Session, supporting DDC Online Team Profiles for increased visibility amongst the staff and helping increase DDC membership. Tricina has shown a passion for pulling out the concerns from staff members that often times do not feel that they have a platform to do so.

In Tricina’s professional role as DBH Nurse Manager, she has been responsive, perceptive and attuned to issues that affect individuals from all cultures. As one of the DBH planning leaders for providing the vaccine to our staff and consumers, Tricina has made a point to ensure that the environment is culturally welcoming with representations from diverse populations, uplifting music and a supportive check-in method for all those receiving vaccine shots. Tricina’s desire for more tools, training and support for people of color and culture in decision making positions in the area of nursing within DBH, is clearly visible by the high respect level and recognition that her staff have for her efforts.

 

Marisol Sanchez, Fiscal Specialist with HS Auditing

Marisol Sanchez has been employed with Human Services (HS) Auditing since July 2017 as a Fiscal Assistant/Fiscal Specialist. She provides assistance to other departments including the Transitional Assistance Department (TAD), Program Integrity Division (PID) and the Department of Aging and Adult Services (DAAS) to resolve issues and provide information on collections and recovery accounts.

Marisol has an excellent understanding and knowledge of many programs, takes on extra duties as needed and provides assistance to others on a regular basis. She takes the initiative to solve complex problems regarding customers’ recovery accounts, tax intercept and the refund process. Marisol assures all customer concerns are handled timely and accurately and provides assistance to bilingual customers through the Call Center and at the customer window.

In addition to her regular assignments, Marisol provides assistance to the Recovery Team as a lead worker and serves on several committees as a representative of HS Auditing. She is also assisting with the preparation for the migration to the California Statewide Automated Welfare System (CalSAWS). She is part of the CalSAWS User Acceptance Training (UAT), CalSAWs Tax Intercept and Collections Committee and serves as a subject matter expert for the CalSAWS group. Marisol also serves as a member of HS Auditing Team Pride and has volunteered to assist in emergency situations providing services to the Registrar of Voters.

Marisol does an excellent job in providing customer service and she is an all around team player. She is always willing to accept new challenges and is an asset to HS Auditing.

 

Samantha Stone, Office Assistant III with the Administrative Support Division (ASD)

Samantha Stone provides clerical support for the Human Services (HS) Facilities and Emergency Services Units since October of 2019 and has proven her worth ten times over! Samantha’s role is unique since she serves two very diverse units. Both are extremely active and both can be quite harried. Yet, Samantha remains calm and serves both with excellence. On top of this, she stepped up to provide essential office assistance support for the Contracts Unit while they were without an office assistant, adding additional tasks to her already hefty workload, all with a positive attitude and a smile on her face.

Samantha has a contagious “can do” attitude, readily embracing new challenges and responsibilities. She goes above and beyond by going into the field to deliver ergonomic equipment, assist with employee trainings, maintain emergency supply inventories and conduct assessments for the HS Emergency Response Codes system. Her passion for computers helps her to serve as the technology “guru” for our units, assisting with virtual meetings and providing tutorials for unit staff as needed. Samantha also serves as a lead in the HS Department Operations Center (DOC), maintains the after-hours emergency contact database and works with HS building managers to ensure records for all HS facilities are complete and accurate. Soon she will be Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) trained and will be a licensed ham radio operator as well. Samantha truly is eager to learn, eager to contribute and is committed to meeting the needs of the Administrative Support Division (ASD) family.

Samantha is confident yet humble, extremely reliable and a true team player. Keep your eye on her; we expect her to go places! In the meantime, ASD is honored to have her on the team.

 

Rachel Anolin, Appeals Specialist with the Program Integrity Division (PID)

Rachel Anolin has been with the County for 19 years. She has served as a Fiscal Assistant, Accounting Technician, Eligibility Worker II and is currently serving as an Appeals Specialist. Some of her job duties are reviewing and investigating hearing requests, researching policies, laws, rules and regulations and determining if corrective action is needed. Rachel communicates case findings with complainants or their representatives and represents the County in State hearings. 

Rachel provides exceptional internal and external customer service. Her positive attitude, perfect attendance and willingness to assist others makes her an outstanding worker and a great team player. Rachel assists her claimants by explaining regulations and case actions in a way they can easily understand. She also works with her claimants to get their issues resolved and makes them aware of other programs they may qualify for.

Rachel has an excellent work ethic. She constantly demonstrates this by getting her work done timely, interpreting regulations correctly, assisting her coworkers and participating in County events such as Election Polls and COVID related events. During her time off, Rachel enjoys spending time with her family, especially her grandkids.

 

Anna Duarte, Supervising Child Support Specialist with the Department of Child Support Services (DCSS)

Anna Duarte has been with the County since August 1999 and has been a Supervising Child Support Specialist since April 2011. Anna has demonstrated that she is committed to the department and the customers served by displaying an openness and willingness to share her subject matter expertise. This is particularly evident with regard to the Child Support Compromise of Arrears Program (COAP) transition to the Debt Reduction Program. Anna represents San Bernardino County DCSS at ongoing State level meetings and her input from a large county perspective is invaluable. She makes herself available to assist the rest of the case management staff throughout the entire department. 

Anna often goes above and beyond to assist her coworkers maneuver through a complicated process. Her efforts make a positive difference in the lives of children and models the values DCSS stands for; Integrity, Environment of Trust and Respect, Commitment to Excellence, Innovation and Transparency. 

When not at work, Anna enjoys spending time with her two daughters. She is committed to completing the 52 hike challenge each year and she is also an avid football fan. Anyone passing her cubicle can witness her homage to the Green Bay Packers.
